SofterWare is based in Horsham, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. We were founded in 1981 with a mission to develop and support software that is easy to learn, easy to use, and adaptable to users' unique needs. The company has grown over 30 years from a small entrepreneurial business to a $35 million+ company with over 10,000 nonprofit, childcare, camp, school, and payment processing clients. Meet the Leadership Team


Nathan Relles

President, Co-Founder,
Chief Innovation Catalyst

Nathan co-founded SofterWare after contributing to Sperry Univac's (now Unisys) Software Research Group on Human-Machine Interaction. Nathan received his BS, MS, and PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin under the invaluable guidance of Richard Venezky and Larry Travis. His research and dissertation were in human factors and the design of easy-to-use computer systems, which is why he named the company SofterWare. He has been on the faculty of Temple University's Computer Science Department, has served on the board of directors of numerous nonprofit organizations, and was an officer on many of them. Nathan is an active runner who also advises local running groups. He attributes SofterWare's success to the people he has had the pleasure of working with for many years.

His first joy is spending time with his wife, Mary, and their children and grandchildren.


Ron Leatherman

Vice President of Childcare/Camp Products

Ron has been working at SofterWare for over 25 years! He previously worked as business manager for Camp Hebron, one of our original clients. Working his way from support to various departments, Ron is now responsible for our childcare center management and camp solutions.

Through the years, Ron has been an active nonprofit volunteer, including teaching English in Belize, and more recently, using vacation days to rebuild houses in tornado damaged areas in the south. Ron graduated with a BA from Goshen College in Indiana.


Mike Scott

Vice President of Finance/Operations

Mike worked as a certified public accountant for approximately 10 years, largely focused on nonprofit and technology-based clients. Since 2001, Mike has been drawing on the experiences he gained helping clients from the outside as a CPA to contribute to SofterWare's success from the inside. He now oversees the company's Accounting and Administration Departments.

Mike holds a BA from Franklin & Marshall College (the Diplomats - an apt name for our own diplomat).


Kathy Piunti

Vice President of Human Resources

Kathy joined the SofterWare family in 2012 when she became the director of HR, and was later promoted to Vice President in January of 2015. She is a member of Southeastern Pennsylvania Society for Human Resource Management. Kathy has over 25 years of broad HR experience implementing a variety of programs contributing toward employee engagement and professional development in Public Accounting and Insurance Industries, most recently at McGladrey.

Kathy enjoys baking (especially anything chocolate!) for her husband and three children.


Lauren Sheehan

Director of Customer Care

Lauren oversees our awesome Support Department and Client Relations Teams, who are responsible for assisting customers with their day-to-day needs, and also helping to ensure their continued satisfaction and partnership with us. She is active in her community, and served as chairman and board member during Phase I of the Save Kids Castle grassroots initiative, which mobilized students, local businesses, and community members to revitalize a beloved playground. Under her direction, over $150,000 was raised and the castle was revitalized and reopened!

In addition to her work at SofterWare, Lauren and her husband are aspiring 'homesteaders' who grow a substantial vegetable garden, can their harvest, make their own wine, and will soon dive into the exciting world of beekeeping!


Eleanor Stasio

Director of Implementation

Eleanor has been in the software industry for over 20 years. Prior to SofterWare, she was a manager of support services for a company that supported staff remotely across the US and Canada. Eleanor began at SofterWare in 2011, and brought her industry experience of implementing systems to the company. Her team has talents that range from data transfer to a strong knowledge of the payment processing services that we provide. Using teamwork and getting the job done is their goal. Eleanor is currently the Director of Implementation.

Eleanor and her husband have enjoyed traveling and watching their son, Patrick, swim in both high school and collegiate meets. She loves the benefits of exercise and even teaches a spin class in her spare time!


Sam Goldenberg

Marketing Manager

Sam has been at SofterWare since 2001, sharing the message about how great our software and company are to all those struggling software users searching for a better solution. He has an MBA from the University of Miami and BBA from The George Washington University. He's also the #1 fan/waterboy for the company softball team.


Joshua Gardner

DonorPerfect Program Manager

Joshua began working at SofterWare in the EZ-CARE2 Support Department. When the first WebLink clients started going live, Joshua transitioned from Support to working on our WebLink product. Joshua's responsibilities include managing the DonorPerfect development team. He works with product management to ensure that SofterWare effectively delivers the prioritized features.

Joshua is also an avid Manchester United fan, and loves to spend time with his wife and two children!


Andy Busovsky

User Experience Manager

Andy joined SofterWare in 2011, initially focusing on the development of multimedia, video, and other web content. He now leads the User Experience Department, whose responsibilities include product documentation and instructional content, video, and multimedia projects, user interface design and development, and usability testing. Andy is a lifelong musician, and enjoys sharing this avocation with his wife and three daughters.


Jeff Pagano

Quality Assurance Manager

Jeff graduated from Devry University with a BS in Communications Management, and began at SofterWare in September of 2010. In his time at SofterWare, Jeff has focused on expanding the efforts of test automation as well as improving the usability of all our products. Jeff lives in Burlington, New Jersey with his wife and three boys. He also participates in recreational volleyball and adult ice hockey, and even started a nonprofit to facilitate initiatives that encourage giving back to ice hockey called the "Play It Forward Foundation."


Doug Schoenberg

CEO and Co-Founder

Doug has worked in the computer industry since the early 1980s, and has been CEO of SofterWare since 1998. He also sits on the board of several nonprofits, including a multi-site childcare provider, and has served as an advisor to several childcare-related professional organizations and publications. In the 1990s, Doug pioneered the use of electronic payment processing in the childcare industry, and ever since has championed its efficiency, cost- and time-saving uses by nonprofit and for-profit organizations. He is a frequent speaker and author on topics related to payment processing, nonprofit management and technology, and childcare administration. Doug is a proud Lehigh University Mountain Hawk , and is a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate.


Mike Sernoff

Senior Vice President

Mike joined SofterWare in 1993 and has worked in every client-related capacity for the company including: support, training, data conversion, sales, and technical services. These experiences have provided him with a keen insight and understanding of the needs of SofterWare's clients. He has been a member of our management team since 1999, was named Vice President in 2006, and Senior Vice President in 2012. Mike has been a presenter at several national conferences focused on customer service. He is both a Minuteman and a Dragon, holding a BBA from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Drexel University. Mike, his wife, and their two cats reside in nearby Bucks County.


Jon Biedermann

Vice President of Fundraising Products

Jon has served the nonprofit community since the late 1990s. In 2001, he was responsible for the launch of DonorPerfect Online, which pioneered web-hosted fundraising solutions for nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining SofterWare, Jon spent over four years with Procter & Gamble, serving as a lead developer in their Sales Management Systems Division. He has presented numerous seminars on the use of fundraising technology for nonprofit organizations, and is recognized as an expert on web-based fundraising strategies. Jon graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH, with a degree in Systems Analysis specializing in Finance. Jon also puts his fundraising experience to good use to help Warrington Youth Baseball, where he also coaches.


Tom Gimpel

Vice President of Product Development and Delivery

Tom is responsible for overseeing the software engineering processes and quality control efforts for all of SofterWare's product lines. He spent more than 20 years in software development leadership at numerous companies, most recently as SVP/Chief Software Architect at GMAC Commercial Mortgage. Tom is a former Microsoft Customer Advisory Board Member with expertise in enterprise development and software integration approaches, and three-time recipient of the Digital Innovation award by Realcomm, an industry technology organization. Tom also created SofterWare's first mobile application for the iPhone and Android. Tom is a graduate of LaSalle University with a degree in Computer Science and English Communications.


David McLaughlin

Vice President of Payment Solutions

David started his career with the Xerox Corporation and after seven years began working in the payment industry with focus on the education market working for Sallie Mae, First Marblehead, and Official Payments. For the last several years, David represented Vantiv, an industry leading payment processing and technology provider.

David is the proud husband of Laura and father to Jacob, Isaiah, and Vala (German Shepard). The McLaughlin's are active in their community and have a passion for volunteerism at home and abroad. David is a sports fanatic and loves coaching.


Laurence Morel

Canada Executive Director

Laurence has been working since 2011 at DonorPerfect Canada. She began in support, and moved to the role of trainer, manager, and finally, director of DonorPerfect Canada. She has a master's degree in International Business from Centre d'Etudes Supérieures du Commerce International in Paris and a master's degree in Civil law from Nancy University in France.


Paul Rowe

Sales Manager

Paul Rowe has been with SofterWare since January of 2013 and is responsible for our fundraising and childcare management sales divisions worldwide. Paul has over 17 years experience working in business development, sales, and sales management for large and mid-size software companies in a variety of different industries. Paul is an avid fan of the New York Islanders, and would be lost if he was unable to play his guitar and sing on a regular basis. Paul also enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and is a passionate supporter of the National MS Society.


Frank Trymbiski

Accounting Manager

Frank started as a staff accountant in 2007, and became the accounting manager in 2012. He is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions for SofterWare, including AP, AR, payroll, auditing, and financial reporting. Frank is a graduate of Villanova University, with a degree in Accounting. When not in the office, you can find him out on the softball field, fishing, or hitting bulls-eyes on the archery range.


Lynn McLaughlin

EZ2 Program Manager

Lynn has been with SofterWare since July 2011. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Widener University, followed by a Masters in Information Technology from Drexel University. At SofterWare, Lynn is responsible for the software development and delivery of our EZ2 childcare/camp products. She has been married for over 15 years and loves spending time with her three children. Lynn is very active in her community. She participates in her neighborhood association, and as a board member for her son's hockey and lacrosse leagues - all while being an avid Philadelphia sports fan.


Carl Zentmayer

IT Manager

Carl Zentmayer joined SofterWare in 2014 to become our IT Manager. He is responsible for all facets of IT including operational support and strategic initiatives. Under his direction, IT supports the LAN/WAN environment including server, storage, phone, and cloud hosted services. Carl has over 15 years experience working in IT at all levels from customer service, engineering, and project management to building and implementing strategic plans for various business initiatives. When not at SofterWare, Carl enjoys spending time with his family. Their time together includes many hours at local baseball diamonds, batting cages, and soccer fields as well as fishing.
